Jessyka Young, LMHC
Hi, I’m Jessyka. I’m a psychotherapist based in New York working virtually. I utilize a weight-inclusive approach in my work specializing in eating disorders and trauma. I’ve previously worked at the PHP/IOP levels of eating disorder treatment and received training in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.

I use an integrative approach to therapy that considers the mind and body and I approach each client as a unique individual. Sessions can operate from a specific modality, incorporate multiple modalities, or reflect more traditional talk therapy. I draw from several techniques including EMDR, somatic therapy, and IFS to help my clients get to the root causes of their struggles, understand parts of self and develop resources to cope with distress. These techniques can scaffold and lead the work, but every approach is specifically molded to the needs and goals of each individual client. I value your collaboration and believe it is necessary in developing a therapeutic relationship in which you begin to feel empowered and secure.
As a therapist, I try to embody the 8 “C” qualities of Self from IFS, in particular compassion, curiosity, calm and connection. Given the virtual nature of my sessions, you’ll often see my dog Ghost in the background. He also shares the quality of curiosity but he is deaf so our sessions will remain confidential ;)
